What is an eSIM?

eSIM stands for “embedded” SIM which is installed in your phone by scanning a QR code or tapping a notification. It is an easy way to use a new phone / data service when you travel abroad.

How does an eSIM differ from a SIM card?

A SIM card needs to be physically shipped to you, whereas an eSIM is sent to you by eMail or phone notification making delivery much faster. Upto 2 Physical SIM cards can be installed on most phones, as against 5 – 15 eSIMs

How do I check if my phone is compatible?

As a general rule, iPhone 11 and beyond, and Android models from 2021 and beyond are eSIM compatible. You can browse through this list of eSIM Compatible Devices to know more.

When you purchase a TSIM eSIM, we also check your phone compatibility for you through your device IMEI number.

Most eSIMs online are Data-only! Can an eSIM also give Voice + Data connectivity?

Yes, a TSIM eSIM can. We offer both Voice + Data plans and Data-only plans.

Is an eSIM with Voice + Data plans better for international traveling?

We believe so! A Voice + Data plan provides a local contact number, just like a physical SIM card, enabling you to make and receive calls and texts without relying on internet connectivity. These numbers are great for making and managing reservations when traveling internationally. Hotels, Restaurants, Airlines, Tour Operators ask for a contact number, where they can reach you. All this becomes possible with a Voice + Data eSIM.

Will I get a phone number with the eSIM, like the one I have with my regular physical SIM card?

If you choose a Voice + Data plan, you will get a local phone number. With Data only eSIMs, no phone number is provided.

Can a single eSIM work in multiple countries?

How many eSIMs can I have on my phone?

eSIM compatible devices allow you to install multiple eSIMs (typically between 5 – 15), but depending on the device model the number of eSIMs you can have active at a time may vary. For more information, get in touch with your device manufacturer or our customer support team by clicking on the chat box.

Can I transfer my eSIM to another device?

Once installed you cannot transfer an eSIM from one phone to another.

How to activate TSIM eSIM on my phone?

To activate on iPhone –

Tap on the install link sent to you by eMail

OR

  • Go to Settings, then Cellular
  • Select ‘Add a plan’. The Camera app will open.
  • Point your camera at the QR activation code until you see a message ‘Installing Cellular Plan’.

Use camera to scan QR code sent to you by eMail

OR

  • Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
  • Tap Add mobile plan
  • Tap Add using QR code
  • Scan the QR activation code

Can I make phone calls or send SMS with my eSIM?

If you’ve taken an eSIM with Voice + Data plan, you can make & receive phone calls, send & receive text messages (SMS). You can also can make and receive calls, send and receive messages using data and OTT applications like Whatsapp, Telegram and more.

If you have opted for a Data Only plan, you can make and receive calls, send and receive messages using data and OTT applications like Whatsapp, Telegram and more.

Can I use an eSIM with my existing physical SIM?

Yes.  If your phone has a Dual SIM option with eSIM compatibility, you can use an eSIM with your existing physical SIM card.

How can I top up my eSIM?

eSIM refills and validity extension can be done on the network operator’s website.

How can I remove an eSIM from my device?

Your phone will have an option to ‘Delete eSIM’. Please note that deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed by scanning the QR code again.
